Purpose of the platform
Bids Kenya is a marketplace where individuals and offices pass on pre-owned items through short, transparent auctions. It is not a retail store, a dealer platform, or a classifieds board.
Eligible items
- Only genuinely pre-owned items may be listed.
- New, unused and new-in-box retail stock, and mobile phones (new, used or refurbished), are not allowed.
- Sellers confirm that the item is used, theirs to sell, and not prohibited.
Bids and deposits
- Bids are binding once the deposit is verified. The minimum bid is KSh 500 and the maximum is KSh 25,000.
- The deposit is 10% of your bid, paid via M-Pesa. If you raise your bid, you only pay the extra 10% of the increase.
- Losing bidders are refunded automatically. Any refund fee is disclosed and recorded.
Winner payment and forfeiture
- Winners pay the 90% balance within 72 hours of the win being confirmed.
- If the balance is not paid and no pause condition applies, the deposit is forfeited to the company, never more than 10% of the winning price.
- An administrator can reverse a forfeiture and must record the reason.
Disputes
Disputes are settled by an administrator after reviewing the evidence. Outcomes can include a full or partial refund, a return, or dismissal, and every outcome is recorded.
Limitation
Bids Kenya holds and releases payments, but does not guarantee the quality, authenticity, delivery or performance of any item beyond the dispute process.
