Bids Kenya
Buyer protection & disputes
You pay the platform, not the seller. The seller ships only after your payment is confirmed, and if something is wrong you can open a dispute.
- 1
Contact the seller
When you win, you get the seller’s contact details. Agree the delivery date, time, place and delivery cost, and ask for extra photos or proof of condition.
- 2
Pay the platform
Pay the 90% balance to Bids Kenya. The seller is told not to ship until your payment is confirmed.
- 3
Confirm receipt
Once the item arrives and matches the listing, confirm in the app. Only then is the seller paid.
Before you pay
- You can request extra photos, a video demonstration or reasonable proof of condition from the seller.
- Asking for evidence puts you at no risk of forfeiture.
Pay before collection
- The seller must not ship or hand over the item until the platform confirms your balance payment.
- Delivery details and messages are kept on both dashboards, so you and the seller always see the same plan.
- Delivery cost is agreed and settled directly with the seller. Never pay the auction balance to the seller directly.
When you receive the item
- Confirm receipt in the app. Only then is the seller’s payout released.
- If you neither confirm nor dispute within 48 hours of the seller marking delivery, the funds are released to the seller.
Opening a dispute
- If the item differs materially from the listing, is counterfeit or has an undisclosed significant defect, open a dispute before confirming receipt, or within 48 hours afterwards.
- The seller can respond. An administrator reviews the evidence and can order a full or partial refund, a return, or dismiss the dispute.
- Every outcome is recorded.
If the seller does not ship
- If a seller refuses to sell, cannot produce the item, or does not dispatch within 5 days of balance confirmation, you are refunded in full and the seller receives a strike.
- Your deposit is never forfeited because of a seller-caused failure.
What is not covered
- Changing your mind is not a reason for a refund once the balance has been paid. Before payment, the 72-hour rule applies.
- Bids Kenya holds and releases payments but does not guarantee an item’s quality, authenticity, delivery or performance beyond the dispute process.
